Martinrea International Inc., a Canada-based manufacturer of metal parts for the automotive industry, confirmed in its quarterly financial results it has been awarded two contracts by Ford Motor Company to supply components for an upcoming crossover to be produced at the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant, in the Northern state of Sonora starting 2020.

Earlier this year Ford announced it will cut off production of the Ford Fusion sedan at the same facility, a measure that caught by surprise equally to workers and state authorities. However, few days later local media began to speculate about the possibility that the company will build a crossover, arguably the Bronco II.

According to Pat D’Eramo, President and Chief Executive Officer, Martinrea will supply steel front and rear sub-frames, as well as suspension and engine dress module assemblies which would result in CA$ 65 million annual sales at peak volume.

The company will also provide aluminum/steel hybrid front and rear sub-frames for yet another Ford crossover starting in 2020 which would result in CA$ 40 million annual sales at peak volume.
