Canadian manufacturer Martinrea opens its second plant in Guanajuato

Canadian metal auto parts manufacturer Martinrea International opened its second plant in the state of Guanajuato, and tenth overall in the country. The 14,800-square-meter facility is located in the Guanajuato Puerto Interior industrial park in the municipality of Silao.

The company invested US$ 30 million and opened 200 job positions in order to start operation in the facility which houses 5 production lines of 5,900 ton stamping machines, 23 assembly cells and 80 robots.

Once fully operational, the plant will have capacity to manufacture 35,000 pieces each day.

Aside from the two plants in Guanajuato, other Martinrea production facilities are located in Hermosillo, Sonora; Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosi; Santa Rosa, Queretaro; Ramos Arizpe (2 plants) and Saltillo (3 plants), Coahuila.

Some of the automakers the company supplies from Mexican facilities are: FCA, Ford, Nissan, Infiniti, General Motors, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz and BMW.
