Streit Groupe, a French developer and manufacturer of machined auto parts currently builds a manufacturing plant in the municipality of Comonfort, Guanajuato, local media reported.

Last year, the company acquired a 33,260 sq.-mt. land at the Marabis industrial park where a 7,500 square-meter facility is currently under construction. 

The manufacturer plans to open 160 job positions to start the first phase of operations with a production capacity of 2 million center housings for turbo chargers. 

Streit Groupe allocated a US$20-million investment in this project. The plant is expected to become operational by the end of 2019, it will be the company's first production site in the Americas. 

During a second phase the company plans to add an additional 5,000-square-meter footprint and the opening of another 280 job positions to build other machined components, but no further details regarding those parts were revealed.

Among Streit Groupe customers are major auto brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, GM, Ford, Nissan, Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Bentley, Toyota and Porsche, but also Tier 1 automotive suppliers such as Honeywell, Continental, Bosch Mahle, Schaeffler and BorgWarner.
