Aerospace sector sales grow double-digit n Queretaro

QUERETARO — During 2018, sales reported by companies in the aerospace industry totaled US$1.15 billion, reporting a growth of 15% compared to US$1 billion in 2017, according to firms associated with Aeroclúster de Querétaro
Within the reported sales, 44% corresponded to manufacturing. The rest went to engine manufacturing; maintenance, repair and revision of aircraft; engines and landing gear, manufacturing of aeronautical systems and equipment. Regarding the exports of this industry, 70% went to the North American region and 21%, to Europe
The director of AeroclĂşster de QuerĂ©taro, JosĂ© Antonio Velázquez SolĂs, expressed that these indicators could generate positive projections of growth for the aerospace industry, after maintaining double-digit variations.
"In particular, we have a pretty positive forecast. The growth that we are seeing, at least in the billing and generation of employment levels , is double-digit (...) our companies’ turnover and sales numbers total above US$1 billion, which is also very positive, "he said.
Velázquez SolĂs stressed as well that there’s and incorporation of women in this branch since one in four employees is female.
"In terms of human capital participation and gender distribution, 25% of women are incorporated into the industry. We hope that in the year 2018 a total of 9,000 jobs have been generated, in that sense we have an interesting growth, "he said.
