CUAUTLANCINGO  – In the second half of July the production of the Beetle model at the Volkswagen plant, located in the municipality of Cuautlancingo, Puebla, will be coming to an end; regardless of that, job losses are ruled out, since the plant’s workforce will be dedicated to the manufacture of the Tiguan truck.

This was announced by the general minister of the Independent Union of Workers of the Volkswagen Automotive Industry of Mexico (Sitiavw), Rey David García Avendaño, who explained that this had been notified by the company since last year.

He indicated that the production will not be affected after this model is canceled, because they are also waiting for another SUV model to be finalized by 2020 according to the VW’s consortium; the details about said model are unknown but according to different sources, it could be the Tarek SUV.

By this year, increase will take place during the same period, according to the inflation rate plus 2%, divided into 1% direct to the salary and 1% to the savings fund.
