Industrial Alliances Promoted in Baja California

During the opening of the third Maquiladora Industry Business Meeting, organized by the Association of the Maquiladora and Export Industry (Index) Coastal Zone, state officials emphasized the sector’s role in coordinating value chains and fostering economic development in Baja California.

The event, held in Tijuana, brought together over 200 supplier and purchasing companies from key sectors including electronics, automotive, medical devices, plastics, logistics, and information technology. An estimated 600 business meetings were conducted.

State Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold Morales, noted that gatherings like this facilitate strategic connections between the export industry and local companies, generating new opportunities for economic growth and regional collaboration.

Honold Morales also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating an environment conducive to investment and job creation, citing Baja California’s strategic geographic location and skilled workforce as key factors consolidating its leadership in advanced manufacturing and technology.

Meanwhile, Federico Serrano Bañuelos, president of Index Zona Costa, highlighted the cooperation among federal, state, and local governments alongside the private sector to position the region as a significant hub in Mexico’s manufacturing industry.

The meeting was attended by various business and government representatives, including Christopher Teal, U.S. Consul General in Tijuana; Pedro Montejo Peterson, Secretary of Economic Development for Tijuana; and leaders from the Business Coordinating Councils of Tijuana, Ensenada, and Tecate, as well as Index presidents from other regions of Baja California.
