Judd Wire inaugurates production line in Aguascalientes

Judd Wire, a subsidiary of Japan’s Sumitomo Electric Industries, has inaugurated a new production line at its Aguascalientes facility, strengthening its role as a key manufacturer of high-tech cables in Mexico. Backed by an investment of US$32 million, this expansion marks the second phase of the company’s growth strategy in the country and aligns with its global push toward innovation and advanced manufacturing in the automotive sector.
Located in the Vesta Industrial Park, the project aims to boost production capacity to meet the growing demand for specialized electrical components, particularly those used in electric and hybrid vehicles. This segment has become a cornerstone of Judd Wire’s global business, driven by the accelerating shift toward cleaner, more sustainable mobility technologies.
During the inauguration ceremony, company executives emphasized Judd Wire’s long-term commitment to Mexico and highlighted the quality and skill of Aguascalientes’ workforce, which has been instrumental in maintaining the company’s international manufacturing standards. “This investment demonstrates our confidence in local talent and in the industrial environment of Aguascalientes, which combines efficiency, stability, and a strategic location to serve key markets across the Americas,” noted one of the company’s representatives.
The new production line is designed to enhance output of high-resistance thermal and electrical cables, engineered to meet the demanding standards of modern automotive systems. It also integrates advanced automation and sustainable processes to minimize environmental impact and improve energy efficiency throughout production.
The expansion is expected to create around 40 new specialized jobs, adding to the more than 200 positions generated since the plant’s initial launch. In addition, Judd Wire announced ongoing technical training programs for its employees to strengthen expertise in advanced manufacturing and quality control.
Local authorities praised the company’s expansion as further proof of Aguascalientes’ industrial competitiveness, noting that the state has become a strategic hub within Mexico’s automotive supply chain. The region offers a blend of security, connectivity, and operational excellence, making it an attractive destination for high-value technological investments—especially those tied to the transition toward electric mobility.
With this new investment, Judd Wire not only expands its footprint in Mexico but also reinforces its global commitment to innovation, sustainability, and cross-border collaboration. Its operations in Aguascalientes are now part of a worldwide network supplying major automotive manufacturers across the United States, Europe, and Asia, solidifying Mexico’s position as a strategic partner in the ongoing technological transformation of the automotive industry.
