KIA aims for 10% sales growth in Mexico supported by financial arm, lease program

South Korean automaker KIA expects to sell 105,000 cars in Mexico during 2019, which is an increase of more than 10% compared to last year, when it sold 94,234 units and displaced Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as the fifth best-selling car marker in the country.

“This 2019 we see in a positive way, we consider all the external factors and we believe that we can reach 105,000 units (sold), which is more than 10% growth”, commented KIA general manager in Mexico, Horacio Chávez.

According to the offical, the launch of Sedona, along with the renewal of its portfolio and the presentation of KIA Forte HB GT, will drive sales force of KIA vehicles in Mexico.

“We will also rely on our financial (KIA Finance), which accounted for 50% of the brand's sales last year (...), for 2019 we estimate that this percentage can be sustained,” he added.

Another product that will boost the commercialization of the brand's cars is KIA Access, a lease program focused on individuals which the company estimates could represent 6% of the contracts signed by the financial arm in 2019.
