Kia Pesquería Produces Sports Wagon Based on the K4

Last September, Kia Mexico produced a prototype of a new model derived from the K4 compact sedan, which it calls the K4 Wagon, according to the monthly report that the Korean automaker submitted to Inegi.

This variant differs from the hatchback version of the K4 already produced at its plant in Pesquería, Nuevo León, due to its larger trunk, according to reports in the specialized press.

The first reports of this program date back to just over a year ago, when a pre-production model was spotted in Europe, which various media outlets concluded was the K4 Hatchback.

However, at least one website pointed out that the camouflaged vehicle was more in line with the dimensions of the so-called “sport wagon” segment.

Since then, fans of the brand have been speculating about what this new variant will be like, while respective “renders” by automotive design enthusiasts have begun to circulate online.

According to the Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry (RAIAVL), only one K4 Wagon was assembled in September, so it is likely that more prototypes will be reported in the coming months.

However, the official launch date could take up to a year, according to the timelines that are typically handled within the industry.
