Lucid Expands with Assets Acquired from Nikola

Electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Group, Inc. announced the opening of a new operations center in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of its expansion strategy in the state. This new headquarters, called Phoenix Hub, is part of the assets acquired from Nikola Corporation last April.

According to the company, the facilities will strengthen manufacturing, product development, and storage capabilities and will be integrated with Lucid's main plant in Casa Grande.

The company's senior vice president of operations, Adrian Price, noted that the new space will also facilitate component and system testing, as well as technological innovations.

The acquisition includes facilities in Phoenix and Coolidge totaling more than 884,000 square feet, bringing Lucid's infrastructure in Arizona to nearly 4 million square feet.

The buildings are equipped with environmental test chambers, battery test benches, a chassis dynamometer, and machining equipment, among other things.

With the new expansion, Lucid estimates the creation of up to 500 jobs in Phoenix over the next three to five years, as part of the push for its upcoming mid-size electric vehicle platform.

State and local officials highlighted the economic and technological impact of the new center. Sandra Watson, director of the Arizona Commerce Authority, said the facilities will strengthen the state's innovation ecosystem.

For her part, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego emphasized that the investment reaffirms the city's role as a key hub in the clean technology and advanced manufacturing industry.
