Mercedes-Benz to Invest US$4 Billion in Alabama Plant

Mercedes-Benz will invest US$4 billion in its Alabama plant between now and 2030, with most of that budget earmarked for the local production of a high-volume model in the United States: the GLC crossover.
The company had already confirmed that it will produce the compact crossover at its assembly plant near Tuscaloosa starting in late 2027.
AutoForecast Solutions projects that GLC production will begin in November of next year, with around 50,000 units in the first 12 months. This volume will be primarily destined for the North American market.
However, the company’s global CEO, Ola Källenius, revealed to AutoNews that GLC production will not reach its full potential in Alabama until 2029.
