Mexican market accounts 40% of DFW International Airport

According to Milton de La Paz, vice president of Airline Relations and Cargo Business Development at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, the Mexican market remains the most important and largest for this airport.
At the conclusion of the conference “Dallas Fort Worth, Your Gateway to the World and the World Cup,” De la Paz noted that Mexican travelers account for 40% of all international travelers passing through the Texas airport.
He explained that, of the 86.3 million passengers who traveled through the airport in 2025, 13 million were international travelers, and of those, 40% were Mexican—approximately 5.2 million.
Despite the US government’s tightening of immigration policies, there has been no noticeable decline in passenger traffic from Latin America; however, there has been a drop in travelers from Canada and some European markets such as France and Germany.
The vice president commented that DFW International Airport took advantage of Mexico’s decision to cancel the construction of the New Mexico City International Airport (NAIM); acknowledging that when they learned of the construction of that airport, they knew it would be competition for them, as well as for the airports in Houston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, because the NAIM could connect more people to South America—a route currently served via Dallas by American Airlines.
