Mexicana boosts expansion with new aircraft

Mexicana de Aviación announced the acquisition of 15 new aircraft as part of its expansion strategy, aiming to strengthen its route network and increase operational capacity in the coming years.

The new fleet will include Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft, which are set to be delivered starting in 2026 and continuing through 2027, allowing the airline to improve seat availability and operational efficiency.

At the same time, the company will expand its domestic connectivity with new routes. Among the first announced destinations is a connection between the Felipe Ángeles International Airport and Acapulco, scheduled to begin in June, followed by a new route to Hermosillo in July.

These additions are part of a broader plan to strengthen Mexicana’s presence across different markets in the country, including tourist destinations, key cities, and underserved regions.

With the expansion of its fleet and route network, Mexicana aims to position itself as a competitive alternative in the domestic market, increasing its share and improving air connectivity across Mexico.
