Mexico Boosts Space Industry Innovation with Support from Russia

The government of Mexico, through the Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes (SICT) and its decentralized agency, the Agencia Espacial Mexicana, announced a cooperation strategy with Russia to strengthen scientific and technological innovation in Mexico’s space sector.
The initiative includes the exchange of experience, technical knowledge, and the joint development of capabilities in key areas of the aerospace industry. These efforts will focus on advanced manufacturing technologies, space applications, and other activities related to the development of aerospace projects that can benefit Mexico’s scientific and industrial ecosystem.
Officials from the SICT emphasized that international cooperation in space science and technology is essential to consolidating Mexico’s position as a relevant player in research and space applications. It also seeks to promote stronger collaboration among companies, academic institutions, and research centers involved in global projects.
This initiative adds to ongoing government and academic efforts to expand Mexico’s presence in the aerospace sector, which has experienced steady growth in recent years due to private-sector participation, international partnerships, and the development of specialized human capital.
