Mexico’s Aerospace Sector Expands Globally

Mexico’s aerospace industry has experienced significant export growth in recent years, with shipments increasing by nearly 60%, driven by stronger integration with North America’s supply chain and rising global demand for aircraft components.
Exports from the sector rose from approximately $6.7 billion in 2021 to more than $10.7 billion in 2024, reflecting the rapid expansion of specialized manufacturing operations across the country.
This growth has helped position Mexico as one of the world’s leading aerospace exporters, supported by the presence of international manufacturers and the development of industrial clusters in states such as Querétaro, Chihuahua, and Baja California.
A large share of these exports is destined for the United States, which accounts for around 80% of the sector’s shipments, highlighting the deep production integration between the two countries within the aerospace industry.
Industry experts attribute the momentum to nearshoring trends and Mexico’s growing capability to manufacture complex components, systems, and assemblies used in global aircraft programs.
With this upward trend, the aerospace sector is emerging as one of the key drivers of Mexico’s advanced manufacturing industry and a strategic pillar of the country’s export economy.
