Motherson will invest US$50 million in Tlaxcala

With an investment of US$50 million, global auto parts company Motherson Group announced the expansion of its plant in the municipality of Zitlaltépec, Tlaxcala, as part of its strategy to strengthen service to its main customer, Audi, and respond to the projected growth in production of the Q5 model.
The project, presented in collaboration with the Government of the State of Tlaxcala, the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco), and the Central Zone Automotive Cluster (CLAUZ), will generate 150 direct jobs and 300 indirect jobs, consolidating Motherson as one of the most important industrial employers in the region.
The Zitlaltépec plant, which has been in operation since 2015, belongs to Motherson's Modules & Polymer Products (MPP) division. It currently manufactures interior and exterior modules for vehicles, including bumpers, fascias, and doors, using injection, painting, and assembly processes.

The announced investment includes the installation of a new high-tech paint booth for small and medium-sized parts. This infrastructure will allow Motherson to increase its operational capacity to meet the growth in volume of the Audi Q5, which is assembled in San José Chiapa, Puebla, and exported to markets around the world, except China.
“Customers are asking us to paint many more parts and inject many more. This expansion responds to that need,” explained Emmanuel Ramos Valenzuela, CEO of Motherson Mexico.
The booth will be installed by local personnel starting in December, and the first finished product tests are expected to begin in the summer of 2026.

With more than 760 jobs already created at the current plant, Motherson's expansion represents a new boost to the automotive ecosystem in the Tlaxcala–Puebla corridor, renowned for its skilled talent, industrial infrastructure, and proximity to key automakers such as Audi and Volkswagen.
"This multinational is what it is thanks to the community and its workers. There is a lot of talent in this region, and we want to continue developing it," said Javier Oros Solá, Director of Sales and Projects at Motherson.
The projected growth of the Audi Q5, which will require up to 30% more production, has triggered this investment in response to growing market demand, despite global economic conditions and challenges in the North American business environment.
