Nestlé-Purina Announces US$100 million Expansion for Its Guanajuato Plant

Nestlé-Purina has announced it will invest US$100 million to expand its pet food production facility in Silao, Guanajuato, enhancing its manufacturing capacity for both dry and wet pet food to better serve the Mexican market.
The expansion project, planned for 2026–2027, is expected to increase the site’s output as part of a broader growth strategy for the region. Since its opening in 2015, the Silao plant has become one of Purina’s largest production hubs in Latin America, supporting hundreds of jobs and producing key pet food brands distributed across Mexico.
With this new investment, Purina’s total capital deployed in Guanajuato will reach approximately US$700 million, highlighting the state’s importance as a strategic manufacturing location for the company.
The project responds to rising demand for pet food in the region and aims to strengthen local supply chains while reinforcing Purina’s long-term commitment to the Mexican market.
