Nissan reaches new production milestone in Mexico

Nissan reaffirms its leadership in Mexico with a new milestone in its Engine Plant, located in Aguascalientes: after celebrating the production of 16 million engines in 2023, the plant once again demonstrates the ability to challenge the established by reaching the figure of 17 million engines in just 17 months.

With a 42-year legacy, the Nissan Powertrain plant is a fundamental pillar in the brand's global production network, as the hearts that give life to the models that Nissan proudly makes in Mexico are assembled there.

“This achievement is a reflection of the commitment, passion, and training of our employees, who merge engineering and competitiveness, always meeting the highest standards of quality and safety globally,” said Joan Busquets, vice president of Manufacturing of Nissan Mexicana.

The 17 millionth engine is a powerful MRK2, the driving force behind the new Nissan Kicks. Its 2.0-liter, 16-valve capacity generates 142 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute, ensuring excellent performance and a driving experience that exceeds expectations.

This milestone is a testament to the tireless efforts of more than 2,900 experts, who deliver a finished engine every 22 seconds. Each of these engines requires 1,735 individual components, which must be treated with millimeter precision.

For Nissan, engine manufacturing is synonymous with advanced technology. Each part is machined and assembled with relentless dedication, resulting in engines that embody automotive engineering excellence. This is the unwavering commitment to quality that defines the essence of the brand.
