Novelis Aluminum Plant in NY Resumes Operations

Cold rolling and heat treatment operations at the Novelis aluminum plant in Scriba have resumed following the fire on November 20, according to a joint statement from the plant and Ford Motor Company.
Novelis said the plant continues to supply Ford and will continue to seek alternative sources, including its global network of plants and similar companies in the sector, to mitigate the impact of the fire.
“The fire was quickly contained and the plant was safely evacuated, with no injuries to employees, contractors, or emergency personnel,” the statement said.
The statement did not specify whether the incident caused delays in the rehabilitation of the complex, but it also does not suggest that the deadlines for resuming operations at full capacity in December will not be met.
Ford is one of Novelis' most important customers. The plant, which has already suffered three fires in two months, supplies the aluminum used in the popular F-150 series pickups.
