Olinia’s fleet will be ready by 2026

The Mexican government expects the first fleet from Olinia, the first Mexican manufacturer of mini electric vehicles, to be ready by June 2026, with two models focused on being safer, more comfortable, and more profitable work tools, costing no more than US$8,055.

Roberto Capuano Tripp, coordinator of the Olinia Project, specified that one of these models will be the mototaxi, a widely used means of transportation in the country.

“Our intention is to serve the market of people who travel by mototaxi, transportation organizations, and transporters who use these vehicles to get around,” said the official.

The other model is focused on cargo transport and urban distribution. It is also specially designed for Mexico's streets and will allow access to hard-to-reach areas.

“We want to create a tool to accelerate the growth of small businesses, which are a key driver of our economy,” Capuano said.

He explained that the design of the first Olinia vehicles will be unveiled in September. They are “electric, lightweight, but with enough power to climb hills; they can be recharged at any outlet and will cost less than any gasoline-powered car, even less than a motorcycle.”
