Pilgrim’s Pride to Invest US$150 Million in Querétaro

Pilgrim’s Pride announced a US$150 million investment to expand and modernize its operations in Querétaro, strengthening its presence in central Mexico and reinforcing its long-term growth strategy in the country.
The project includes the modernization of its processing plant, the expansion of incubation and feed production facilities, upgrades to poultry farming infrastructure, and the renewal of its transportation fleet. The company also plans to implement sustainability initiatives, such as the installation of solar panels and the development of a biogas generation system, aimed at reducing its environmental footprint.
According to company representatives, the expansion is expected to generate around 300 direct jobs and more than 1,200 indirect positions, boosting local employment and supporting regional economic development.
The investment forms part of Pilgrim’s Pride’s broader plan to allocate approximately US$1.3 billion in Mexico over the next five years, focusing on increasing production capacity, improving efficiency, and strengthening its supply chain nationwide.
Mauricio Kuri González welcomed the announcement, highlighting that it reflects investor confidence in Querétaro’s business environment, supported by legal certainty, skilled labor, and modern infrastructure.
State authorities also emphasized that the project will encourage the integration of local suppliers and reinforce the region’s food and agribusiness sector.
With several decades of operations in Mexico, Pilgrim’s Pride remains one of the country’s leading poultry producers, supplying domestic and international markets while continuing to expand its industrial and technological capabilities.
