Safran’s new MRO workshop in Querétaro is under construction

The Safran Shop 2 plant is 60% complete to establish a new workshop to increase engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capacity.

Safran will invest US$80 million in this project and create 500 jobs. The investment plan foresees the construction of the second MRO shop, scheduled to start operations in 2026.

Through this unit, the company is expected to increase annual capacity from 150 engines to 350 engines by 2030.

This 14,000-square-meter facility will add capabilities to MRO's global network to support increased demand for services.

In this context, Safran's Chairman of the Board, Ross McInnes, met with the Governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, to tour the site.

The executive explained that the construction of the new maintenance shop is being carried out by a Queretaro company, according to information from the local government.

This and other Safran plans were announced in July 2024, during the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), held in the United Kingdom.

At the event, the French company confirmed the construction of a new maintenance workshop and the expansion of its production plant in Querétaro, both dedicated to the CFM LEAP engine.

According to Safran, the new workshop is also designed to meet the highest environmental standards, as part of its low-carbon strategy.
