SAT raises taxes on products

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported that from January to March 2026, government revenue totaled US$101.777 billion, representing a nominal increase of US$2.684 billion compared to the same period in 2025.
Tax collection reached US$90.242 billion; the SAT received US$23 billion in value-added tax (VAT).
Special tax on production and services (IEPS) brought in US$10.977 billion, US$2.146 billion more than in the same period of 2025.
This year, the IEPS on soft drinks, sugary beverages, and juices rose from US$0.095 to US$0.22 per liter, while a US$0.086 per liter IEPS was applied for the first time to calorie-free sweetened beverages. Serums that do not comply with WHO regulations are subject to an IEPS of US$0.18 per liter; meanwhile, the tax on cigarettes rose from US$0.037 to US$0.049 per unit.
By the end of 2026, the federal government expects tax revenue to total US$334.527 billion, 10.2% higher than the 2025 target.
