Siemens inaugurates Mitras plant in Nuevo León

MONTERREY, NL - Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean inaugurated its outstanding Mitras Project in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, after two years of planning and an investment of more than US$58 million.

This new plant, which specializes in plastic injection molding, was established to expand production and meet the growing demand for medium- and low-voltage electrification solutions in the domestic and North American markets.

Alejandro Preinfalk, president and CEO of Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, explained during the inauguration that “the Mitras Project was designed from the outset with very clear objectives in terms of digitalization, automation and sustainability.

In addition, the plant is in the process of obtaining LEED Gold certification, which implies that its construction, production, operation and use significantly minimize the environmental impact”.

Preinfalk added that Mitras has generated more than 450 direct jobs, including operator-programmers, skilled technicians and administrative staff, which is expected to drive a 91% increase in export sales by 2025.

The inauguration of Mitras was graced by the presence of Matthias Rebellius, member of the Board of Management of Siemens AG and CEO of the Smart Infrastructure business, who emphasized that the plant incorporates state-of-the-art Siemens technology.

The high level of digitalization and automation will allow Siemens Mexico to implement the SiGreen solution, which uses blockchain technology to reliably track a product's carbon footprint throughout its industrial process, providing real-time data to optimize decision-making on each production line.
