Siemens Mobility brings advanced technology in railway sector

Siemens Mobility, in collaboration with SONDA Mexico, has been awarded a landmark contract to supply the advanced signaling solution and European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 1 rail infrastructure technology for the Mexico City–Queretaro–Irapuato rail corridor.
Spanning more than 186 miles and featuring eleven passenger stations, the project is part of Mexico’s federal initiative to modernize its passenger rail infrastructure.
Siemens Mobility’s scope includes the implementation of its TPS.plan software, a powerful rail planning system that optimizes schedules and operations, along with ETCS Level 1 track-side signaling, an Operations Control Center (OCC) and its backup center, as well as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for monitoring and control.
The project represents a key milestone in Mexico’s railway modernization, significantly improving mobility for workers, students, and passengers in the Bajio region by connecting the capital with the states of Hidalgo, Queretaro, and Guanajuato.
Among the most notable projects is the implementation of the scalable and cybersecurity-enabled Signaling X technology on the Alameda-Melipilla and Santiago-Batuco lines in Chile, covering 87 miles and 46 stations.
With these cutting-edge initiatives in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, Siemens Mobility significantly improves the efficiency, safety, and operation of rail transport throughout the Latin American region.
