Sigma will modernize its plant in Merida

Sigma inaugurated its new Peninsula Collection and Distribution Center (CADI), located in the Central Business Park in Dzelchac (Ucú, Yucatán).

The complex is capable of processing 2,800 tons of dairy products and cold cuts, with infrastructure to ensure freshness and efficiency in distribution.

According to Eugenio Caballero Sada, CEO of Sigma Mexico, this project required an investment of US$21.6 million, which is in addition to the US$4.3 million that the company allocated to the region between 2020 and 2024.

He also stated that the center will supply more than 16,000 customers and will optimize its logistics operations in the southeast of the country.

“We are committed to Yucatán because of its strategic location, human talent, security, stability, and growth potential. This CADI is a key step in offering food, optimizing our operations, and strengthening the supply chain,” he said.

During the event, the company also announced an investment of US$22 million pesos, which will allow it to expand its production capacity and modernize its IASSA plant in Mérida.

With this figure, the company's cumulative plan in the state amounts to US$48 million between 2020 and 2027.

In this context, it highlighted that Puerto Progreso is key for importing meat and dairy products from the United States, Europe, and Brazil.

Currently, Sigma's plant in Mérida produces 15,000 tons of food per year, with a projected increase to 45,000 tons by 2027.

Finally, Sigma estimated that, through its five distribution centers in Yucatán, it will serve more than 15,000 points of sale.
