Stellantis formalizes production of Jeep Cherokee in Toluca

Stellantis formalized the start of production of the sixth generation of the Jeep Cherokee and the Ram 1500 pickup truck for the domestic market at its assembly plants in Toluca and Saltillo, respectively.

In the first case, this is the fourth Jeep brand vehicle to be produced at the Mexico City complex, alongside the Compass, the Wagoneer S, and the Recon, the latter two of which are 100% electric vehicles.

“The manufacture of Jeep vehicles and the start of production of the Jeep Cherokee Hybrid in Mexico for Mexico is an important milestone in the history of the plant in the country,” said Carlos Rivera, vice president of Manufacturing at Stellantis Mexico.

The executive added that the production quality achieved by the facility is not only an example of technological and manufacturing excellence, but also “shows the company's confidence in both the country and its skilled workforce.”

At the Saltillo plant, the official launch took place with a Ram 1500 4×4 Crew Cab Bighorn, destined for the domestic market, which, according to the company, “symbolizes the company's commitment to strengthening local production, promoting industrial development in the region, and offering consumers vehicles assembled to the highest quality standards.”

Rivera explained that the production of the Ram 1500 for the Mexican market “represents a major step forward in expanding the complex's production capacity and consolidating Mexico as a strategic point within the global operation, not only as an exporting country, but also as a manufacturing center geared toward the domestic market.”

“This production reaffirms our commitment to Mexico and to our employees, who make it possible for every vehicle assembled at this plant to meet the highest quality standards,” the executive concluded.
