Stellantis refines RAM 1500 production in Saltillo

The tariffs imposed by President Donald J. Trump on imported vehicles did not halt Stellantis' plans to produce current-generation Ram 1500 light pickups at its Saltillo plant, although the company did revise downward its production target, according to U.S. press reports.

The prestigious portal Crain's Detroit Business revealed that the multinational automaker has caused nervousness in Michigan due to adjustments in production volumes at the Warren Truck and Sterling Heights assembly plants.

The same report indicates that these adjustments are taking place while plans to produce the Ram 1500 DT in Saltillo continue, although only 86,000 units will be produced this year, according to sources involved in these decisions.

Production was scheduled to begin last March, but will begin at the end of this month due to delays in the adjustments, not the entry into force of the tariffs, the sources said.

The volume on the production line will be a few hundred during the first two months and will gradually increase to meet the stipulated goal, according to the report, which also indicates that it is not yet clear to which markets the Coahuila plant's production will be destined.
