Stellantis unveils the Jeep Recon, the Electric Off-Roader

Stellantis unveiled “the industry's first certified all-electric off-road SUV,” which it calls the Jeep Recon. It will debut as a 2026 model in the first quarter of next year and will be produced at the Toluca assembly plant.
Designed from the ground up for adventure, the vehicle offers the legendary 4×4 capability of the Jeep brand in an all-electric package.
Built on an architecture designed specifically for this purpose, the Jeep Recon combines powerful performance with authentic 4xe capability.
Standard electric all-wheel drive provides confident traction on a variety of terrains, thanks to Jeep's exclusive Selec-Terrain system with multiple drive modes tailored to all types of conditions.
With 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm) of instant torque, the Jeep Recon offers acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and an estimated range of up to 250 miles (402.3 kilometers), depending on the trim level.

“The Jeep Recon 2026 represents a bold step forward for the brand: an all-electric SUV that stays true to our core values of freedom, adventure, and capability,” said Bob Broderdorf, executive director of the Jeep brand, at the presentation.
He assured that the vehicle “is off-road ready, designed specifically for this purpose and ready to take Jeep enthusiasts into the future without sacrificing the legendary performance they expect.”
“With the Jeep Recon, we demonstrate that electrification is not only compatible with off-road excellence, but elevates it, offering instant torque, precise control and a quieter, more connected driving experience unique to Jeep,” he added.
The new member of the Jeep family will have a suggested starting price of $65,000 in the U.S. market, not including a $1,995 freight and delivery service charge.
Stellantis said production will begin early next year at the Toluca assembly plant, where it will roll off the line alongside the Jeep Wagoneer S and the new-generation Jeep Cherokee.
Initial launches are scheduled for the first quarter in the United States and Canada, followed by a global expansion. However, the company did not specify specific dates.

Designed to Perform
Based on an electrified architecture that delivers 4x power and comfort for everyday driving, the Jeep Recon was designed to dominate all types of terrain, from city streets to the roughest trails.
At the heart of the powertrain are in-house designed front and rear electric drive modules (EDMs), each with 250 kilowatts of power, providing standard electric 4x4 traction and instant torque on demand.
Each EDM combines an electric motor, gears, and power electronics into a single compact unit for greater efficiency.

The powertrain delivers 840 nanometers (620 lb-ft) of torque, which the driver can access almost instantly, without having to wait for a conventional engine to reach the necessary revs.
Jeep engineers have optimized the Jeep Recon's accelerator pedal to deliver torque in a controlled and precise manner, providing a satisfying off-road driving experience.
To increase capability, the rear EDM on the Moab version uses a 15:1 final drive ratio that provides a high level of torque multiplication to help the driver overcome difficult conditions.
Off-road performance is optimized by an electronic locking differential that ensures torque is transmitted to both rear wheels when activated. With the push of a switch, the driver can go from open differential to fully locked.
The front EDM differential uses an 11:1 final drive ratio in an open differential design that balances performance and comfort.

The front axle includes automatic disconnects on each wheel to optimize energy consumption and range under typical highway driving conditions, when rear-wheel drive is most efficient.
Engineers prepared the Jeep Recon for off-road driving with large-diameter half-shafts and robust constant velocity (CV) joints to transmit all torque to the wheels.
The 100-kilowatt-hour, 400-volt battery is protected by a complete set of heavy-duty, high-strength steel underbody shields.
The suspension—with short-long arm (SLA) front and integral link rear—responds precisely to driver input and maximizes tire contact patch for an ideal combination of on-road comfort and off-road capability.
The suspension and standard 33-inch tires on the Moab version provide 23.1 cm (9.1 inches) of ground clearance.
Off-road specifications include a 33.8-degree approach angle, a 33.1-degree departure angle, and a 23.3-degree breakover angle.

The Selec-Terrain traction management system incorporates Rock mode in the Moab version (in addition to Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand modes), offering specific software calibrations so that the driver can take full advantage of the capabilities of an electric powertrain.
Rock mode adjusts throttle response to facilitate driving on uneven terrain, allowing for a two-pedal driving technique to control the vehicle.
This mode also includes a hill start assist feature, which allows the driver to move their foot from the brake to the accelerator without the vehicle moving.
It is also equipped with Selec-Speed control for steep slopes, allowing the driver to concentrate on steering.
Functional and Iconic Exterior Design
The Recon 2026 combines bold proportions and unmistakable Jeep DNA.
Inspired by tradition but with an eye to the future, it pays homage to the brand's heritage through iconic design elements, while presenting a modern, all-electric vision of adventure, created to excite loyal fans and inspire a new generation of pioneers.

Its large glass area maximizes visibility, while the vertical front end features an illuminated seven-slot grille, U-shaped daytime running lights, and a full set of premium LED lighting as standard.
True to Jeep's tradition of enjoying the outdoors, the Jeep Recon offers a standard dual-panel panoramic sunroof or an optional Sky One-Touch power sunroof.
Integrated power-operated door handles facilitate access, and the Jeep Recon stands out as the only fully electric vehicle designed with removable doors, rear side windows, and tailgate. No tools are required.
Gloss black accents on the grille, pillars, and window frames, plus an optional gloss black roof, provide visual contrast.

At the rear are expressive LED taillights inspired by the Wrangler and a swing-out tailgate that houses the full-size spare tire mounted on the rear, a feature unique to the segment.
The rugged Moab version, the first to be released, adds even more character with gloss black fascias, flared fenders, optional side steps, and exclusive Jeep badges with topographic engraving and an anti-glare graphic on the hood.
True to the adventurous and fun spirit that characterizes the brand, the Jeep Recon celebrates individuality with a rotating palette of expressive exterior colors, including special edition shades.
From “vibrant colors that radiate energy and dynamism to rugged tones inspired by utility and refined neutrals that balance sophistication and adventure,” Stellantis promises to offer a color for every personality.

Functional and Refined Interior
The interior is designed for adventure, combining ruggedness and functionality with refined innovation.
Inspired by the brand's legendary off-road heritage, the cabin blends durable, rugged materials with smart, customizable storage, which, combined with technology, creates a functional and cutting-edge space.
The heart of the interior is an iconic horizontal design, with a striking grab handle on the passenger side and a clean, symmetrical dashboard.
Thoughtful details, such as a modular accessory rail above the instrument panel for mounting cameras, navigation devices, or even a mount for holding game, and scratch-resistant vortex-textured surfaces, reinforce the unit's off-road capability and technological advantage.
A two-tier center console offers ample space for gear, with a wireless charger available on the upper level and a grommet to an lower compartment ideal for tablets, bags, or larger items.

The speakers, now located under the seats instead of the traditional door mounts, ensure uninterrupted sound quality even with the doors removed.
This ingenious design allows drivers and passengers to fully enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing audio performance.
Stellantis assures that at launch, it will be the only electric vehicle in its segment to offer high-end sound as standard.
Technology and Connectivity
The Jeep Recon redefines the off-road driving experience with a technologically advanced cabin featuring more than 26 inches of sculpted high-definition display, designed to enhance both on- and off-road travel.
At the heart of this innovation is a new standard 12.3-inch instrument panel with customizable menus and modern graphics, along with a revolutionary 14.5-inch horizontal touchscreen for the radio and center console, the largest usable digital display ever offered in a Jeep vehicle.

The new integrated digital climate controls offer a clean, intuitive interface, while physical knobs for volume and tuning ensure tactile functionality where it matters most.
Powered by Uconnect 5, Jeep's most advanced infotainment system to date, the new interface offers unmatched clarity, brightness, and customization.
The sleek, button-free design combines futuristic aesthetics with practical usability, with digital buttons sized for easy use on any terrain.
Larger dynamic displays also improve the readability of maps and camera images, ensuring drivers stay informed and in control.
