Tamaulipas’ Economy Grows 2.7% in First Quarter of 2025

Tamaulipas recorded a 2.7% economic growth during the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest data from the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE), published by Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
With this result, the state ranked among the top ten in the country for economic growth during the reporting period.
The primary sector — which includes agriculture, livestock, and fishing — was the most dynamic, posting an annual growth rate of 24.3%, the highest nationwide. The secondary sector, comprising industry and construction, grew by 3.4%, while the tertiary sector, which covers commerce and services, increased by 0.7%.
The Tamaulipas Ministry of Economy attributed the growth to strong performance across key productive sectors, infrastructure development, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The ITAEE offers quarterly insight into the short-term economic performance of Mexico’s states, based on preliminary data.
