Tamaulipas prepares for the 2025 International Energy Congress in Tampico

The Tamaulipas Energy Development Secretariat (SEDENER) is preparing for the 2025 International Energy Congress, which will be held from November 24 to 26 in the city of Tampico. The event will bring together representatives from the public, private, academic, and social sectors to discuss the future of the energy system, both nationally and internationally.
According to Walter Julián Ángel Jiménez, head of SEDENER, the congress will be a space for technical analysis and institutional dialogue on the main challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector. Among the topics to be discussed are electricity generation from renewable and traditional sources, the development of biofuels, the exploitation of hydrocarbons, and the creation of value chains and regional supply schemes.
The event will also address the training of skilled labor and the updating of the legal framework surrounding energy in Mexico, with special emphasis on the context of secondary law reforms and their impact on the states.
Ángel Jiménez pointed out that one of the objectives of the meeting is to strengthen coordination between the different levels of government and the private sector, in order to promote energy projects that generate social benefits, productive investment, and regional development.
Although the International Energy Congress has been held for several years, this edition seeks to project Tamaulipas not only as a key player at the national level, but also with the potential to influence the international energy agenda. In this regard, foreign delegations, as well as multilateral organizations and transnational companies, are expected to participate.
The congress is part of a broader strategy by the state government to strengthen Tamaulipas' role in the energy industry, considering its strategic location, port infrastructure, and history as a producer of hydrocarbons and electricity.
