The State of Mexico is working to create an aerocluster

STATE OF MEXICO - The Government of the State of Mexico is working for the entity to have an aerocluster (an industrial park for the aerospace industry), like those in the rest of the country, said Laura Gonzalez Hernandez, head of the state Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDECO).

In an interview with A21, at the end of the inauguration of the 19th edition of the Aero Expo, the state official said that among the sectors to be attracted to the State of Mexico, Hidalgo and Mexico City, are aeronautics and space.

That is why, she said, they are in talks with all the actors of this industry to offer spaces, land use and access to services, as well as special incentives for them to settle within the Centro-AIFA corridor (Felipe Angeles International Airport).

As it will be remembered, in the last edition of the Aero Expo, the Government of Mexico expressed its interest for the entity to have an aerocluster as there are in other states of the country.

The state official said that they will seek to attract companies from different parts of the world to nurture this sector.

She indicated that, in the case of the aeronautical cluster, they are already aligned with the Federal Government so that with the arrival of new investments, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo and Mexico City are ready to receive them.

“And we ourselves are promoting that companies from all over the world see the State of Mexico as an option to settle here their investments in the aeronautical sector,” he said.

Gonzalez Hernandez said that events like the Aero Expo, in its 19th edition, will bring more industries to the State of Mexico, Hidalgo and Mexico City and thus establish a headquarters in the state or see it as a center of operations.

He indicated that one of the advantages that the state offers to this sector is that there are two airports, the AIFA, as the main cargo air terminal, and the Toluca International Airport (AIT), in addition to the proximity of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

Regarding the specific case of the AIT, he commented, talks are being held with the airport authority so that this air terminal can grow as a cargo and private aviation airport.
