Ultimate Solar Advanced Technology invests in a new plant in Yucatan

The international firm Ultimate Solar Advanced Technology (USAT), which specializes in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and solar energy technologies, will build a plant in Kanasin, Yucatan, that is the only one of its kind in Latin America; the project represents an investment of US$134 million and will create 1,000 direct jobs.

The project will be backed by Mexican and Canadian capital and will be developed in two phases, positioning Yucatan as a new leader in the production of strategic components for the global energy transition.

Yucatan Governor Joaquin Diaz Mena emphasized that the arrival of this industry represents a structural shift for the local economy by introducing jobs that currently do not exist in the state and that have historically forced young professionals to migrate in search of opportunities.

The establishment of USAT will trigger an ecosystem of opportunities for Yucatecan companies involved in logistics and transportation, industrial maintenance, technology services, component manufacturing, automation, and control.

For the company, the state offers the necessary conditions to consolidate a long-term project that will transform the region’s industrial profile.

Mario Emilio Saenz, representative of the OC Investments Fund and partner at USAT, highlighted that the plant will be the first of its kind in Latin America and that Yucatán represents the “ideal location” due to its operational certainty and potential for technological growth.
