Viva announces construction of an MRO in Queretaro

QUERETARO - Viva announced that it will build an Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) workshop at Querétaro International Airport, where it will be able to perform maintenance services and repairs to its fleet more effectively and conveniently.

“Thanks to a US$194 million investment, Viva will have more secured maintenance slots, which will allow it to reduce repair and service times, improve preventive maintenance and save on costs,” the airline said.

The project is being conceived with a focus on environmental and energy sustainability, seeking to ensure that both its construction and operation have a minimal impact on the environment.

“This decision by Grupo Viva demonstrates their confidence in Querétaro. I recognize the airline for the journey it has traveled as a Mexican company, making air transportation accessible in Mexico and responding to challenges with responsible investments and greater competitiveness," said Mauricio Kuri González, Governor of Querétaro.

For his part, Roberto Alcántara, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Viva Aerobus, commented that, committed to its long-term vision in favor of the national aeronautical industry and the economic development of the country, it is investing in greater infrastructure for Viva, capitalizing on national talent and the technical experience of its allies, in a strategic region of Mexico, such as Querétaro.

According to the press release, the airline detailed that the MRO workshop will consist of 4 hangars located in a development of between 15 to 20 hectares.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-2025 and be completed in the third quarter of 2026 to start operations in early 2027. The workshop will have 8 production lines, with the capacity to service up to 160 aircraft per year and generate up to 2,000 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs.
