Volaris announces construction of maintenance base in Jalisco

Enrique Beltranena Mejicano, president and CEO of Volaris, revealed that the airline plans to build a maintenance base in Guadalajara, a project that will begin in early 2026.
"A few months ago, we began a process with GAP (Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico) and the Jalisco government to establish a maintenance base in the city. This morning, the governor (Pablo Lemus Navarro) asked me to get that project off the ground next year. Volaris will be happy to do so in two phases, starting next January," the executive said in Guadalajara during the presentation of the airline's 150th aircraft.
Later, in a meeting with the media, Beltranena Mejicano added that the idea is to start with a platform for about 16 aircraft in the first year.
The reason for locating the maintenance base in Jalisco is because of the strong relationship between the state and Volaris. In fact, the A320neo, which is its 150th aircraft, will be based at Guadalajara International Airport, which is why Governor Lemus Navarro, who was also at the event, proposed that the aircraft be christened with a name related to the state.
During the presentation of the aircraft, new routes were also revealed that will depart from Guadalajara to Puebla, Durango, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Villahermosa, and Bogotá, Colombia. These new destinations will begin operating in November.
Volaris began operations in 2006 with two leased aircraft, but by January 2022, it celebrated the acquisition of its 100th aircraft and has now done the same with its 150th. In fact, two more units have already been added, and many more are yet to join the fleet.
“We now have 152 aircraft, and looking ahead, another 150 or more will arrive on the Airbus purchase order,” said Beltranena Mejicano.
For his part, Raúl Revuelta Musalem, CEO of GAP, acknowledged the airline's contribution to the growth of the terminals under his management.
