WEG Mexico invests in Hidalgo

TULA, HGO - WEG Mexico, a manufacturer of energy-efficient motors, announced the opening of its new plant located in the Quma Industrial Park in Atotonilco de Tula, Hidalgo.

This is an investment of US$6.8 million, which is part of the projects presented by Governor Julio Menchaca in June 2023.

According to information from the firm, the building will generate up to 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in the region. In addition, it will strengthen Hidalgo's presence as a strategic point for national and international industry.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Mauro Mendez and Carlos Elías Rodríguez, general manager and sales director of WEG Mexico, respectively, who announced the execution of future innovative projects in the state.

During the event, the Secretary of Economic Development, Carlos Henkel Escorza, highlighted that this project reflects the Hidalgo government's commitment to economic development.

He also celebrated that works such as the new WEG plant allow the construction of a favorable environment to receive investments.

In September 2024, WEG indicated that Mexico and Brazil would be strategic markets in which it would invest during 2025.

“We want to meet the current demand for wires and cables used for transformers and electric motors in North America,” the company said.

In this context, it assured that it will allocate up to US$122 million over the next five years, with the aim of expanding its capacity.

WEG is currently one of the most important global manufacturers of energy-saving motors, automation, power generation and distribution.
