Xiaomi unveils the YU7, its first SUV

Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle division of the Chinese manufacturing giant, has unveiled its first SUV, the Xiaomi YU7 (pronounced “yu” /ü/), named after a Chinese term symbolizing “sailing through the wind,” which was conceived as a “high-performance luxury vehicle aimed at independent, confident, and dynamic elites.”
Far from being simply a taller version of the Xiaomi SU7, the YU7 represents a completely revamped concept from the ground up. While it shares the same evolutionary design language as the Xiaomi SU7, it stands out for its own identity.
It is 4,999 millimeters (mm) long, 1,996 mm wide, and 1,600 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and a 3.11-square-meter aluminum clamshell hood, the largest in mass-produced vehicles.
The electric front trunk has a capacity of 141 liters, while the main cargo area has a capacity of 678 liters, which expands to 1,758 liters with the rear seats folded down.
The YU7 will be available in three colors: Emerald Green, Titanium Silver, and Lava Orange.
In terms of performance, the SUV features three main electric technologies developed in-house by Xiaomi EV (electric motor, power battery, and motor control unit) that, when combined, provide a range of 835 kilometers.
In terms of performance, the Xiaomi YU7 delivers 680 horsepower, a maximum power of 508 kW, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, and a top speed of 253 kilometers per hour.
So far, the company has not revealed the price and launch date for the Mexican market.
