Xoli, the new AI designed to assist tourists in Mexico

The Mexico City government unveiled Xoli, a virtual assistant developed through an innovative strategy that combines immediate service, accessibility, and the efficient use of technology to enhance the experience of visitors to the capital.

This digital tool was created primarily in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup, but since its launch, it has been available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Its main objective is to provide information to domestic and international tourists, and it is also capable of holding conversations in Spanish and English.

Angel Tamariz, head of the Digital Agency for Public Innovation, stated that the implementation of Xoli aims to ensure that every visitor experiences Mexico City in a simple and digital way, serving as an open window to the city and all it has to offer to tourists.

The chatbot was created as a guidance tool for those visiting Mexico City during the 2026 World Cup; however, the intention is for it to remain a permanent option for tourism after the sporting event.

Alejandra Frausto Guerrero, the capital’s Secretary of Tourism, said, “Xoli represents the hospitality that characterizes Mexico City, brought into the digital realm. Every day, the city offers tourists and visitors more than 3,000 activities; this chatbot will help ensure that this vast array of options is experienced in an organized and memorable way.”

Among the categories it covers are museums, restaurants, hotels, cultural events, concerts, festivals, cinema, literature, sports, mobility and transportation, weather and recommendations, workshops, and the city’s history and culture.

Additionally, it allows users to search for activities by specific dates, which facilitates the planning of personalized itineraries. To obtain more accurate answers, it is recommended to ask specific questions, use full words, and avoid questions unrelated to tourism.
