Yokohama Expands Operations in Aguascalientes

Japanese company Yokohama Industries Americas has begun work on the expansion of its industrial plant located in the San Francisco IV Industrial Park, announcing an investment of US$26 million and the creation of 128 new jobs.

The project includes the construction of a modern storage facility and the extension of production lines to boost the company’s operational capacity in the region. This move aims to meet the growing demand from Yokohama’s automotive clients across North America.

The governor of Aguascalientes highlighted that this new investment reaffirms international confidence in the state’s business environment, characterized by legal stability, safety, and a highly skilled workforce. She also noted that Aguascalientes has recently achieved record levels of foreign investment from Japan, surpassing previous milestones.

The Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology pointed out that Yokohama has been a strategic partner for Aguascalientes for over a decade. This new expansion, he said, demonstrates the company’s commitment to strengthening its local operations and contributing to regional industrial growth.

Executives from Yokohama Rubber emphasized that Mexico remains a reliable and competitive destination for foreign investment, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support of the state government.

Meanwhile, the mayor of San Francisco de los Romo underlined the municipality’s strategic location and robust infrastructure as key assets for industrial development. The event was attended by company representatives, local authorities, and members of the Japanese diplomatic mission.

With this expansion, Yokohama reinforces its long-term commitment to Aguascalientes, positioning the state as a vital industrial hub for the automotive sector and a driver of economic growth in central Mexico.
