Yucatán will receive US$259 million in investments in the tourism sector

Yucatán is consolidating its position as a pole of attraction for investment in the tourism sector, since this year an economic flow of US$259 million is expected in different projects.

According to the Directorate for New Tourism Investments of the Secretariat of Tourism Development of Yucatan (Sefotur), 49% of this investment will be made in the Yucatan capital, while the remaining 51% will be destined to the interior of the state. These projects will generate 2,848 direct jobs and more than 6,043 indirect jobs.

According to the report corresponding to the period from January to April 2025, 66% of the amount will be concentrated in the hotel industry, 31% in entertainment (theme parks, beach clubs, marinas, museums) and 4% in restaurants.

According to the State Government, so far this year various services have been inaugurated, representing estimated investments of US$62.2 million.

Among the new attractions, the following stand out: Destino Mío Mayan Resort in Tekit; Lob Lob Cabins in Dzilam Bravo; Grupo Comitiva restaurants in Mérida; boutique cabins and a videomapping show at Cenote Santa Rosa, in Homún; Hacienda Susulá Boutique Hotel, and Molusk restaurant, in Progreso, to mention a few.

In addition to private investment, the public sector has also made significant investments, such as the Tren Maya Hotels in Chichén Itzá and Nuevo Uxmal; the latter will also have a theme park.
