Cancun Airport will expand its terminal 4

CANCUN, Q.R - Aeropuertos del Sureste Asur submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources the project to expand Terminal 4 of the Cancun International Airport.

This project is being launched just two weeks after setting a new record in passenger volume during 2023, having mobilized 32.3 million travelers, which puts the terminal at the limit of its current annual capacity of 30 million.

In addition, it also coincides with the start of operations of Tulum International Airport, which will compete directly with Cancun for the international tourism that visits the Mexican Caribbean every year.

According to Asur's technical justification in the Environmental Impact Statement, the expansion of the airport is expected to continue with a growth trend in the coming years.

The site to be used for the implementation of the project is part of the land concessioned to Asur, at kilometer 22 of Federal Highway 307 Chetumal-Puerto Juárez.

The terminal building currently has an approximate area of 79,381 m2, distributed in first floor, upper floor and mezzanine and a total of 26 contact and remote aircraft positions, which will be expanded.

The works will include a flora and fauna rescue phase in the more than 60,000 square meters where the works will take place.
