Tamaulipas aims to boost hydrocarbon production
TAMAULIPAS - The construction of six offshore platforms off the coast of the port of Tampico will boost hydrocarbon production in Tamaulipas, thanks to the coordination between Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Secretary of Energy Development
.José Ramón Silva Arizabalo, Secretary of Energy Development of Tamaulipas, pointed out that these platforms are part of the strategies to strengthen production after the recent discoveries in shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico.The platforms will be installed in the Ayatsil, Kayab and Pit fields. Two of the platforms will be permanent offshore structures, while the other four will be temporary relocatable platforms with deepwater displacement capacity. The Mexican company Eseasa Offshore, located on the coast of the Pánuco River in Tamaulipas, is in charge of manufacturing the platforms.
Octavio Romero Oropeza, director of Pemex, together with executives from Pemex Exploration and Production (PEP), highlighted the importance of these platforms during a recent supervisory visit. The platforms are designed to be relocated according to production needs, avoiding the construction of new structures.The six relocatable temporary offshore platforms will be installed this year and will allow drilling 24 wells. Five of the platforms are expected to be completed in the next few weeks. Two of them will be installed between February and March, and the other two between May and June. Hydrocarbon production in Tamaulipas will begin later this year.
Tamaulipas was recently recognized as the energy state of the year, highlighting its strengths in the sector.
