The drone sector still has challenges to overcome: Cramex Aerospace

MEXICO - Among the challenges and opportunities for the drone sector in the country are more updated regulations, the integration of drones into controlled airspace and medical examinations, said Yousefh Pineda, general director of Cramex Aerospace.

"After the closing of the first Congress of Operational Air Safety with Drones, challenges and opportunities, the executive said that, with respect to the issue of regulation, it is necessary to work on one that is more robust, covering the entire class and range of operations of the different types of unmanned aircraft (UAVs, RPAS, VANS)," executive stressed.

Regarding the integration of drones to the controlled space, it was pointed out that this must be under certain characteristics, standards, where the whole ecosystem of drones, piloted aircraft, manned aircraft, passengers, can coexist in a safe way.

Regarding medical examinations, he expressed that these must be reviewed, in addition to collaborate with the authorities and see how to make them more flexible under certain parameters more in line with the operation of RPAs (Remotely Piloted Aircraft).

Pineda commented that a written summary of these requests will be made and will be sent to the authorities, in this case to the General Director of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), General Miguel Enrique Vallín Osuna and his collaborators in the respective areas, so that they may take them into consideration.
