Sonora certified as a benchmark in the semiconductor industry

SONORA - The state of Sonora stood out as a national reference in terms of semiconductor industry, being the first entity to receive the certification of the standard in this competence.

Alfonso Durazo, Governor of Sonora, highlighted the collaboration between the government, industry and educational institutions to strengthen employability and competitiveness in the region.

During the formalization of the Semiconductor Competency Management Committee, linked to the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, it was reported that the project will consolidate the joint work between government, industry and educational institutions, generating a significant impact on economic development, training and employability, innovation and sustainability.

“The formalization of this committee will make a very important contribution to the construction of the profile that the economy of the future will demand, based fundamentally on semiconductors and the entire electromobility chain,” said Durazo Montaño.

Accompanied by María Guillermina Alvarado, head of the National Council for Standardization and Certification of Labor Competencies (CONOCER), the governor explained that with the official start of the Semiconductor Competency Standard, specialists will be trained from the universities that collaborate in this committee with the objective of boosting this key industry in the energy transition with the Sonora Plan.

Durazo commented that the formalization of the Semiconductor Competency Management Committee is a firm step towards the development of the local industry, visibility and governmental support, and promotion of the certification of competencies.
