State Energy Efficiency Award 2025 Presented in Baja California

As part of the EnerBaja 2025 forum, the State Energy Commission (CEE), under the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI), presented the State Energy Efficiency Award 2025. The award recognizes projects that promote technological innovation, efficient energy use, and sustainable practices in both companies and public agencies in Baja California.
The winning projects were selected by a multi-sector evaluation committee based on criteria including energy impact, degree of innovation, scalability, social inclusion, and alignment with the pillars of the 2022–2027 State Development Plan, according to Joaquín Gutiérrez Ley, head of the CEE.
Among the honorees is Garrett Advancing Motion, whose "Strategic Plan to Reduce Energy and Emissions" achieved annual savings of 1.97 GWh at its Mexicali facilities, generating economic benefits exceeding US$191.082. The project included automation of industrial systems, installation of photovoltaic panels, and modernization of processes with centralized monitoring, following ISO 50001 standards.
Schnellecke Logistics was recognized for its "Desert 2 Solar Panels" project, a 499 kWp photovoltaic plant capable of generating 137% of the company's average monthly energy consumption. The initiative prevents the emission of 322 tons of CO2 annually and provides a replicable model for the logistics and industrial sectors, incorporating young people in technical training programs.
The Baja California Institute of Educational and Pedagogical Services (ISEP) implemented the "Savings Program," which modernized electrical infrastructure in nine schools by installing LED lighting. The upgrades reduced electricity consumption by up to 40%, improved school safety and functionality, and promoted energy awareness among students and staff.
Kurt Honold Morales, head of the SEI, noted that the award encourages the energy transition and strengthens the state’s competitiveness by supporting investment and the development of sustainable solutions in both public and private sectors.
The recognized projects highlight how organizations in Baja California are adopting technologies and strategies that reduce energy use and emissions, providing concrete results that could serve as a reference for other sectors in the region.
