Ensenada Moves Forward With Plan to Host an Aerospace Research Center

Ensenada is advancing a proposal to position the city as a new hub for scientific and technological development through the creation of an aerospace research center that would leverage the region’s existing academic talent and specialized infrastructure.

The city has a strong base of researchers, engineers, and specialists in applied sciences, making it well suited for high-level technological projects. Local research institutions and universities play a key role in training professionals in fields such as engineering, physics, electronics, and advanced technologies, all of which are closely linked to the aerospace industry.

Beyond scientific research, the project aims to foster an innovation ecosystem that connects academia, industry, and government. This approach is expected to support the development of new technologies, attract investment, and generate highly skilled jobs, strengthening both the local and regional economy.

Ensenada’s geographic location and its connectivity with industrial corridors in northwestern Mexico also position the city as a strategic point for collaboration with aerospace companies and participation in high-value supply chains.

The initiative is part of a long-term strategy to diversify the local economy and move toward knowledge-based industries, complementing traditional sectors such as tourism, port logistics, and maritime activities.

Next steps include defining the operating model for the center and exploring funding mechanisms and partnerships with national and international institutions to move the project toward implementation.
