Aerocluster of Tamaulipas Backs Expansion of Air Services

The Aerocluster of Tamaulipas expressed its support for the expansion of air connectivity in the region, highlighting the efforts of Nuevo Laredo’s mayor, Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, to increase flight frequencies.

The organization emphasized that stronger air services are essential to consolidating the city’s role as a strategic logistics hub, particularly following the start of operations of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), which is expected to drive higher demand from workers, suppliers, and users.

Raúl Llamas Cervantes, president of the Aerocluster, stressed the importance of attracting more airlines, including the possible return of Mexicana de Aviación, to better meet the growing needs of passengers and businesses. He noted that while recent improvements are a positive step, broader expansion in routes and operators is necessary to support economic growth, mobility, and regional development.

The organization also acknowledged the joint efforts of local and state authorities to strengthen Tamaulipas’ air infrastructure and connectivity. These initiatives are expected to enhance the region’s competitiveness and reinforce its position in national and international trade.
