Volvo’s plant in Nuevo Leon finally gets underway

Volvo was honored with the Invest Award during the Invest Monterrey Assembly for its contribution to industrial development and its role in attracting investment to the state.

During the event, Hendrik Hebberecht, general manager of Monterrey Valle Operations, stated that the company found favorable conditions in the region to move forward with a large-scale project, supported by collaborative networks and institutional backing.

The facility will incorporate advanced manufacturing processes, such as automated lines, precision welding systems, state-of-the-art painting technologies, and smart quality control systems, all aligned with the company’s global standards; in addition, a building management system will be implemented to enable real-time monitoring of energy consumption and operational efficiency.

The investment encompasses not only the initial infrastructure but also a vision for sustained long-term expansion.

After laying the cornerstone of its plant in the region—in October 2024—the industrial complex will begin operations in 2026. The Volvo Group will focus on the production of cabs and the assembly of heavy-duty units for its own brand and Mack Trucks.
