Toyota: Toward sustainable mobility

To reduce CO2 emissions quickly and efficiently, Toyota is promoting a global multi-technology strategy based on four electrified technologies tailored to the needs of each country: hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), 100% battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

More than 15 years ago, Toyota Mexico introduced the Prius, kicking off a transformation that today is reflected in over 230,000 electric hybrids sold in the country, thereby saving 1.9 million tons of CO2, equivalent to 10% of Mexico City’s annual emissions or the effect of planting more than 2 million trees.

Since the arrival of the Prius, the brand has been building the most electrified portfolio in Mexico: of the 20 available models, 12 feature hybrid electric technology across different segments, contributing to Toyota’s vision of driving Mobility for All.

The transition to low-emission mobility requires a measured approach, taking into account the conditions of each market. Toyota Mexico will continue to promote electrification solutions tailored to the country’s reality to help reduce CO2 emissions in an accessible and sustainable manner.
