Tamaulipas & Texas: 80 companies will be coming to SpaceX

Astrid Salazar, chair of the Strategy Committee at Rioplex, stated that 80 aeronautical and aerospace companies will set up operations in the SpaceX Valley, which stretches from the Rio Grande in Texas to northern Tamaulipas, as well as in Nuevo Leon and Coahuila.

Currently, an aerospace ecosystem that already existed is being further developed; Reynosa was already a strong player in that industry, and now it is fully developing into an aerospace, aviation, and defense hub in the SpaceX Valley. While further growth is still expected, the existing supply chain in the area and the influx of new investments will play a significant role in Tamaulipas’s development.

The city of Brownsville highlighted a report published by SpaceX, which shows a growing economic impact from rocket launches into space. Each launch attracts thousands of spectators—an estimated 20,000 per event—who come to witness a historic moment from Brownsville.

But beyond the spectacle, SpaceX’s presence is driving growth in job creation, education, tourism, and local spending: SpaceX has contributed more than US$13 billion to the regional economy over the past two years; this ranges from employee salaries and infrastructure investment to hotel stays and restaurant visits.

RioPlex is an initiative that seeks to promote investment along the Rio Grande in Texas and northern Tamaulipas, where efforts are underway to ensure that the industry in these regions becomes highly specialized and develops a thriving ecosystem.

The roar of the rocket engines not only lights up the sky but also drives the economies of Brownsville, Matamoros, Reynosa, Austin, and the entire SpaceX Valley.
